Hi I've been trying to communicate with a Micrologix 1100 but I cant get the BOOTP Software to recognize the controller. Anyone had this problem before. I have tried turning off the controller and trying again but still wouldnt see it. Brand new controller.
I had the same problem recently. I finally quit trying to get the BOOTP to work and established communications with the PLC serially. From there I was able to setup the TCP/IP comm properties and was able to communcate via ethernet.
Thanks that worked for me also
Since this thread is 15 months old, this may not help the original posters, but might be of use to someone at a later time.
I also had problems getting the Rockwell BOOTP server to talk to my Micrologix PLC. I found that BOOTP acted like a one shot. It worked fine on a fresh boot of my laptop PC. Once the connection to the PLC was severed, it did not work a 2nd time without rebooting the laptop. I don't know why this occurred. Everything else about the laptop Ethernet port looked healthy. So next time, try running BOOTP off a fresh boot of XP Pro.
